News Release: Alliance Members Travel to Colorado Springs and Chicago

The Fairfield 33 Development Alliance is continuing to reach out for national and international opportunities through it’s marketing efforts. In April, Mike Pettit, the City of Lancaster Economic Development Director; and Chris Strayer, the Village of Canal Winchester Economic Development Director, traveled to Colorado Springs, Colorado to the Industrial Assets Management Council (IAMC). The Industrial Asset Management Conference (IAMC) is the premier organization providing the right blend of Industrial Representatives, Site Selectors, Commercial Real Estate Practitioners, and Economic Development representatives to network, learn, and build business friendly relationships that will provide long term opportunities for communities and commerce in America. The IAMC meets twice per year and this is the third conference that the Fairfield 33 Alliance has attended. Typically over four hundred attend this event. The local representatives met with numerous site selection companies and industry leaders. These networking events allow the Fairfield 33 Development Alliance to network and build relationships with the decision makers for major companies in the United States.

Another opportunity the Fairfield Development Alliance is utilizing is through it’s membership with the Mid-Ohio Development Exchange (MODE). This central Ohio economic development organization offers corporate calling events to several major cities across the country. The most recent was in Chicago. Shane Farnsworth Fairfield County Economic Development Director traveled with representatives from the Columbus Chamber and Upper Arlington and met with numerous site selection companies located throughout the Chicago region. “These trips allow Fairfield County to meet the decision makers in selecting a site for a new business or expansion as well as establish a local contact for these companies.” While there, Farnsworth met with the Austrian Trade Commission. The central Ohio region has a number of Austrian based companies. Fairfield County’s Mondi Packaging is one such company. “Because of our meeting with the Trade Commission, they will be visiting our county at the end of June. This would not have happened had we participated in this corporate calling event through MODE.”
